About this deal

We were determined not to produce an upmarket, colour version of “A Hard Day’s Night”, which was a fictionalised documentary on Beatles lives. Unlike the first film, they all seem somewhat disconnected from each other here, so while we still get the witty banter, it comes across more as lines read from a page. We now take for granted the easy availability of movies on home video formats, but in 1980, it wasn't quite so simple.

We hear from director Richard Lester, director of photography David Watkin, hair and makeup artist Betty Glasow, Apple Corps’ Neil Aspinall, stunt doubles Peter Cheevers and Chris Diggins, costume designer Julie Harris, music video/film director Steve Barron, and actor Eleanor Bron. Richard Lester managed to be as brilliant as a director like The Beatles were as a music band: witty, british, unpredictable, pop and fine and funny as only few can be.I had been wanting to add this to my collection for some time now but curiously, had never gotten around to it. Luxury packaging includes a 60 page hard-backed book with rarely seen photographs and production notes from the movie, a newly written introduction by director Richard Lester and an appreciation piece by Martin Scorsese, plus 8 lobby cards, a poster, and a reproduction of the original annotated script, all housed in a deluxe, custom-made box.

My luck being rather poor, we experienced a massive hail storm midway through Let It Be and they had to stop the film for a while. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. I've heard some people say that this film is outdated/of its time, and I suppose in a way it is, but that doesn't mean that it's any less enjoyable.Overplay and familiarity had dulled it's beauty in my memory but this remaster brings back the lustre for me.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Not a great movie by any means, but contains a few genuinely funny moments and some unintended slices of what life was like back in the 1960s. Without these technologies, things like personalised recommendations, your account preferences, or localisation may not work correctly. The boys are good (well they were playing themselves) although John does not seem to make much impression.would also eventually go on to become a major box-office hit, subsequently developing a cult following throughout the years.
