About this deal

Having read the first edition about 18 years ago and been enthralled, I can say only that the second edition with two new chapters to bring us up to date is even better.

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. It begins a magnificent tale of adventure that will plunge the members of the Fellowship of the Ring into a perilous quest and set the stage for the ultimate clash between the powers of good and evil.

There was no way to keep track of all the names mentioned, nor how they were related, nor the timeline etc.

The disadvantage of short-term missions is a wrong perspective based on this generation's need for instant results. Such accounts are a challenge to those of us working with addicts on a daily basis and who long to see such 'miraculous' cures, yet only occasionally do so. This was the first indication, other than her time with the Willanses, that she had any kind of a life outside of running through the squalid streets rescuing those in the gutter. Chasing the Dragon is a missionary biography that centres upon Hong Kong's most dangerous territory: the Walled City. Now, I'm not the crying type, but I was definitely sniffling back a few tears at several points in this book. It was super cool to hear about experiences from inside Hong Kong's walled city, something I'd never heard of before -- a city that hosted over 30,000 people within 6 acres, filled with prostitution, opium dens, and more (it was demolished in 1994). If you're unsure if God still uses the gifts of the Spirit these days, or how practical and effective they may be in ministry these days, I'd recommend this book. Then I thought it might be in the last chapter, but that too was full of more highlights and then it just ends abruptly with another person getting miraculously healed. Yet, as she spoke of Jesus Christ, brutal Triad gangsters were converted, prostitutes quit, and Jackie discovered a new treatment for drug addiction: baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Per quelli che conoscono la Hong Kong di 30 anni fa oppure per quelli che vogliono scoprirla, questo libro e’ un must-read. Chasing the Dragon is also a chronicle of the amazing work of the Holy Spirit in healing bodies, teaching minds, saving souls and changing the lives of individuals, communities and deprived and depraved societies.Although she scoured the Walled City for potential sheep, she did so in the Spirit and learned to help those He led her to who really wanted help and never force her Christianity on anyone.
